Previous chapter.

“Wake up, kiddo. Welcome to Florida.”

I woke up softly, opening my eyes slowly so the light wouldn’t be too harsh. I was still leaning over on the seatbelt, so I had to move slowly so my face wouldn’t hurt coming off of it. That was the only bad thing about the front seat. You couldn’t lay down at all.

We were in the second day of traveling, and I had fallen asleep spontaneously like an idiot. I couldn’t believe it. We had been talking all night. I must have fallen asleep before I had even realized it.

That was pretty much how the entire trip had gone,. I never knew what to say when Andy was around, and I embarrassed myself more than I tried to say something cool. When Andy followed through and bought me a burrito from a tiny roadside restaurant halfway to Nashville, I could barely say thank you. I tried to show her the things Ryan and I had bought, but she would always cut me off to say we needed to clean up camp. We were behind schedule again. We were always behind schedule. It felt like it was always my fault.
