Rest in peace, Google+.
It’s true. That social media network we all basically stopped using three years ago is finally shutting down.
This network was arguably dying anyway (“90 percent of Google+ user sessions are less than five seconds,” OUCH). The interface was weird and the only good thing about it was the groups. And even then, they could be weird and sketchy.
But what’s interesting is the reason given for the killing: A security bug.
Compare that to Facebook, who’s breezing past their latest security scandal with all the grace of late-stage Tonya Harding. Google’s not even hesitating to kill it’s darling.
We may have made fun of it for years. But I personally will remember October 8th as the day Google+ died. It’s one of the biggest social network deaths in a while. Maybe it means fresher starts are coming.
